Hi ! I'm new there !

Hello ! Konnichiwa !

I am a new blogger here and I hope I can share my passion which is japanese tradition..
I enjoy SADO ( "chanoyu" or tea ceremony ), KADO ( "ikebana" or flower arrangement ), old kimono and fabrics, bonsai growing ( my blog's name comes from a special "satsuki" ( azalea ) flower you will soon see here (^o^) ), origami, japanese food and table ware and so on...

Hello Franck

I was clearly meant to go on to Ichiroya this morning. Here's why: I am English, but living in France; trying to retire but can't quite. So I am in the process of creating a small business out of my love for Japanese silk and kimono. Like you, I am working on a building project, with my talented partner, who is a master carpenter. We are converting a barn mitoyenee to our little French house. It will in vernacular style - of wood and stone, like the other places around us in the Pyrenees, but with the interior inspired by the clean and simple decor of Japan. I have made versions of noren out of silk haori fabric, matching the patterns as they fall across the windows. I also convert damaged tomesode into screens and wall hangings. I will need to think commercially when I start on the web, so I am building up a stock of fabric for other artisans who like to work in silk. The yukata cottons are also wonderful for making futon covers. Now, I was the person who bought the "dear birds" bolt. But I was going to make a yukata for myself (like a child eating the sweets from her parent's shop stock!). I know that feeling of frustration when you miss out on an item you have set your heart on. Would you like to be my first client, even before I go live with Savoir Soie on the web?

It would be great to hear more about your project. We love ski-ing too, and are near several stations in the Pyrenees.

Regards

Maggie

P.S. I am not yet a blogger, but it seems I will have to be, if Ichiroya is anything to go by!

Hello Maggie, I'm very happy everytime I can talk with a japanese crafts fan :) So you're planning to open a japanese webstore soon ? ( savoir soie will be the name ? ) How exciting ! I was thinking of doing the same but more with selling different items, not only fabrics... May be more interior wooden items, table ware and so on... But before doing so my main project is making this french/japanese guest house... Opening is normally for June 2006 near from Chamonix ski station... I have lot of japanese items packed waiting to be finally used there ! :) first we are making 2 guest bedrooms as a start, we will see if we need more after... a little place for tea ceremony... You are lucky to have a carpenter in your life :) You can both choose exactly what you want to do with your place... It's very difficult to find japanese wooden interior items by our place, so I hope we will find a talented french craftman !
You must be good at sewing with all the stuff You seem able to make by yourself ! Yes I would like to find lovely yukata cotton to make futon covers, that's why I was interested in this bolt :) just tell me !
Please make also your own blog it is a fun way to communicate !
Best regards,
Franck.
